MacRae calls upon Fernandes to join DiZoglio in effort to audit legislature
“On at least two occasions Fernandes voted against auditing the House, once in 2017 and again in 2019.”
Republican Kari MacRae is calling upon her Democrat opponent State Representative Dylan Fernandes to endorse the State Auditor’s ballot initiative to audit the state legislature. A measure Fernandes has voted against at least twice in the past.
MacRae and Fernandes are the only declared candidates for the Plymouth and Barnstable State Senate seat, incumbent Susan Moran has declared for Barnstable Clerk of Courts. Plymouth State Representative Matt Muratore is also considering a run.
The ballot question authorizing the State Auditor to comb through the books of the state legislature has advanced, along with six other potential questions, to the state legislature itself on Wednesday.
“I look forward to reaching across the aisle to work with Auditor DiZoglio to make her audit happen,” said MacRae. “An audit of the General Court is long, long overdue. It’s time for Dylan Fernandes to get on this issue. This shouldn’t be about politics, it’s about good government. The time has come to get this done.”
“Unfortunately, Rep. Fernandes’ record on non-partisan, taxpayer-friendly good government legislation isn’t good,” MacRae added “On at least two occasions Fernandes voted against auditing the House, once in 2017 and again in 2019.”
