Double Whopper: Healey told MSM "I never stopped pipelines" and they ate it up
MassSave is: "working as its supposed to right now"
Governor Maura Healey went unchallenged by the State House press corps today when she told one the biggest untruths of her administration asserting “I never stopped pipelines” even though she famously bragged in October 2022 “Remember, I stopped two gas pipelines from coming into this state.”
ISO New England estimates that natural gas produces approximately 60% of the region’s electricity on an average day.
Healey meet with the press as she announced plans to direct the Department of Public Utilities to reduce unnecessary charges on customer electric bills headed into the winter heating season.
Not one member of the State House press corps reminded the Governor of her 2022 pipeline killing statement that she made as she campaigned for the corner office and serving as state Attorney General.
But reductions in your electric bill will not come from cuts to MassSave according to the Governor, “We already made adjustments to MassSave and um, the program is working as its supposed to right now.”
Earlier this year a former Stoneham police officer was sentenced to federal jail time in a MassSave fraud scheme.
“I’m calling on the DPU to launch a first-of-its-kind review to identify ways to get charges off bills and lower costs,” Healey said in a statement, “Combined with my energy affordability agenda and legislation, we can save people billions of dollars for years to come.”
Last week we reported the power grid will need $25B in upgrades over 25 years to keep up with Net Zero mandates and the Healey administration admitted in a little noticed report last week that those upgrades will “likely lead to significant increases in Massachusetts electricity bills.”
