Alleged meth dealing squatter is back living next door to AG Andrea Campbell, after she used power of her office to prompt State Police investigation and arrest
"I want to do that in my own neighborhood, so the State Police lead an investigation"
State AG Andrea Campbell told GBH yesterday that an alleged meth dealing squatter who State Police investigated and arrested last week, was now back living next door to her.
According to Campbell, she used the power of her office, as the state’s highest law enforcement official, to prompt an investigation by the State Police after years of complaining about the property as a Boston City Councilor.
“So fast forward I become Attorney General and as everyone knows its an honor and privileged to protect the safety of everyone across the Commonwealth, and of course I want to do that in my own neighborhood, so the State Police lead an investigation,” Campbell told GBH [video below timestamped to start].
Campbell advocated for massive cuts to the Boston Police Department in 2020 telling GBH three years ago that de-fund the police involves “reallocating a significant amount of resources from our police department to programs, and initiatives, and individuals that are doing the work."
Campbell said the squatter living next door, was actually registered to live as Boston Housing Authority tenant.
State police found “significant amounts of meth and fentanyl” in the house, she told GBH, when they arrested an individual at the property last week.
In November 2020, Campbell spoke to GBH about here de-fund the police vision.
